Antoinette Costume Hire

Awaiting Photo

We will be running “Personal Styling Fixes”. As a stylist, we see many customers with the wrong hair or clothes for their shape and colouring. We will be offering advice as to what to wear to emphasise your physical assets.

The sessions will be in a workshop format, with a maximum of 12 participants. We will discuss the language of dressing, how we create “characters” and how costume evolves through time. Each participant will receive 5 minutes personal styling advice.

These sessions will be a taster of longer workshops that we can offer in the New Year.

There will be a charge of £5 per head and we will run the workshop twice – at 6pm and 8pm, sharp. People should arrive 15 minutes early.

To book your place and check there is room, please call us on (020) 8699 1913.

About Us

Costume Hire London was started in the 1960’s by Antoinette Gregory and is now run by Antoinette’s 4th incarnation, a chap called Brian Parsonage-Kelly. We are based in a lovely Grade II Listed building on the borders of Sydenham, Forest Hill and Dulwich, Antoinette’s has been providing Costumes and Fancy Dress to South London and beyond, for 40 years. To many customers Costume Hire London are the local “Fancy Dress” shop, but we are more, much more than that.

First of all, go into any typical Fancy Dress shop and you will probably find nothing we stock. Almost all our clothes are unique, vintage items and we are very proud to say they are all on hangers, not in bags!!!

Secondly, we don’t sell anything. Actually, well, we do sell wigs, masks, stage make-up and the odd accessories, as well as an occasional modern dress or two that come to us via fashion shows, but mostly we are a hire shop.

Thirdly, if “Fancy Dress” is fancy and dressy, and not cheap and tacky, then perhaps it would be best to describe us as a vintage costumiers with a fancy dress heart!
