What Are We Doing?

Write a song, play an instrument, lay down a track, play in a band! No previous musical experience necessary!

This event brings music production to the public. Most of us are on the listening end of music, but what would it be like to actually be the ones to make and play music instead?? My workshop gives people the opportunity to be part of the music making process; from writing lyrics, figuring out a tune, laying down tracks, to and finally playing it live on stage! This is an EXPOSURE workshop. Visitors will be exposed to a fly-on-the-wall view of being in a band. They will be able to get involved in the music production activities that interest them most, and will be exposed to the production of different genres of music (from folk to rock to electronica). My band MARS Music will be hosting this event: we’ll be bringing our own kit, as well as our very own sound engineer Mark! The kit included in this event will be: – 1 x Fender Stratocastor electric Guitar – 2 x Electric Bass Guitars (one is left-handed) – 3 x Accoustic (+ semi-accoustic) guitars – 1 x microphone with full effects – 1 x synth keyboard – 1 x laptop will Cubase sound recording software (+ other types of software) – Yamaha electric drum kit – PA and speakers Although I only have 45 minutes, the nature of the event is conducive to groups of people getting involved as we will be doing group jams, instrument demos, and hopefully a performance at the end involving visitors to the workshop!

We will be running two sessions, one in the afternoon and another in the evening.
